A Cook County woman is suing several health-care providers, alleging their neglect led to her mother’s death.

Velma Milton, independent administrator of the estate of Arquilla Porter, her mother, filed a lawsuit Oct. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Renaissance at 87th Street Inc., Nucare Services Corp., Little Company of Mary Hospital & Health Care Centers, Alden-Wentworth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc. and Alden Management Services Inc.

According to the complaint, Porter suffered from severe dehydration, a urinary tract infection, acute kidney failure, a head wound from falling and several deep-tissue pressure ulcers while under the defendants’ care at the Renaissance at 87th Street in Chicago, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park and at Alden-Wentworth Rehabilitation in Chicago between November 2013 and March 2014. The suit says the defendants rendered negligent care for Porter, whose injuries led to her death March 15.

Milton seeks damages of more than $50,000 for injuries, losses and damages. She is represented by attorney Jacqueline B. Kanter of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-010867.
