A 95-year-old woman is suing a South Holland nursing home, alleging malpractice related to a broken leg she suffered under their care.

Julia Granat filed a lawsuit Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against MANORCare Health Services, a subsidiary of HCR Inc., and two physicians, Dr. Adeebur Rahman and Dr. Andrew Leigh Murray.

According to the complaint, Granat, a resident of MANORCare in South Holland between May 30-Sept. 12, 2013, fell from her wheelchair Aug. 26, breaking a bone in her right leg. The suit says although Granat complained of leg pain and an X-ray was taken, the break went undiagnosed until she was sent to St. Margaret Mercy Hospital on Sept. 12.

An injury to the plaintiff's abdominal cavity also was discovered then, the suit says.

Granat seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Thomas Ponne of KP Law in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008647.
