Wife accuses doctor of failing to treat husband’s dialysis complication

Kidney view

A Cook County woman is suing her husband’s physician and the dialysis center where he was treated, alleging malpractice.

Roxanne DiMauro, independent administrator of the estate of Michael DiMauro, filed a lawsuit Aug. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Martin J. Finn, Nephrology Associates of Northern Illinois, doing business as Dialysis Access Services of Nani, Fresenius USA Marketing Inc., doing business as Fresenius Medical Care North America, Fresenius Medical Care Chicagoland, Fresenius Medical Care of Chicago, Fresenius Medical Care of Illinois, Fresenius Medical Care of River Forest, Fresenius Medical Care Ventures, Fresenius Medical Care Ventures Holding Company Inc. and Dialysis Centers of America-Illinois Inc.

According to the complaint, dialysis patient Michael DiMauro reported bleeding from a puncture site in his arm over the course of three visits to FMC-Fresenius North Avenue Dialysis in November 2013. Although Dr. Finn assessed the wound and bound it with tissue adhesive, the bleeding persisted, resulting in DiMauro’s death Nov. 21, 2013, the suit says.

Roxanne DiMauro seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Jeffrey E. Martin of the Law Offices of Jeffrey E. Martin in Arlington Heights.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008709.
