CHICAGO–A Cook County woman is suing her mother’s nursing home, alleging it failed to prevent her mother from from repeated falls.

Felicia McDonald, as independent administrator to collect the estate of Ernestine Lewis, filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden-Wentworth Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Inc., alleging liability under the Nursing Home Care Act.

Lewis became a resident of Alden-Wentworth in Chicago on Oct. 31, 2012. According to the complaint, a little more than a year after she was admitted, Lewis was sent to Trinity Hospital with a fractured clavicle, an unspecified head injury, and bruises to her back, face, scalp and neck. The suit blames the nursing home for Lewis’ injuries, alleging they occurred due to inadequate monitoring to prevent falls.

McDonald seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Clifford W. Horwitz of Horwitz, Horwitz and Associates in Chicago.
