CHICAGO–A Cook County man is suing a medical center, a doctor and his practice group, alleging mistakes in treating him for blood clots cost him his toes.

Eric Jenkins filed a lawsuit Nov. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Resurrection Medical Center, Dr. Prashant Joshi and Illinois Cancer Specialists in Chicago, alleging malpractice.

Accord to the complaint, in November 2013 Jenkins came to Resurrection with blood clots in both calves and the lung, but was not prescribed any blood thinners or further tests. As a result, the suit says, Jenkins suffered amputation of his toes.

The complaint accuses Joshi of misdiagnosing Jenkins’ condition, including failure to determine his white blood cell count, which led to his injuries.

Jenkins seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorneys Rebecca Neubauer, Michael Holden and Stephan Blandin of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case number 2015-L011809.
