Mother blames Evanston Hospital for infant’s death

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing Evanston Hospital, alleging negligence in the death of her baby.

Molly Michele Hill, individually and as independent administrator of the estate of Madelyn Rose Hill, filed a lawsuit Dec. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northshore University Healthsystem doing business as Northshore University Healthsystem Evanston Hospital, Midwest Center for Women’s Healthcare Ltd., certified nurse midwife Katie Peterson, Dr. Elizabeth Ann Forbes and registered nurse Meghan Terese Thompson-Wilda, alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Molly Hill received prenatal care from the defendants in 2014 for the birth of her first child, Madelyn Rose Hill. During the baby’s delivery Nov. 4, 2014, the suit says, Molly Hill was given several medicines to treat a bacterial infection and fever. However, the lawsuit says the infant should have been removed from the infected prenatal environment.

Madelyn Rose Hill died that same day.

Hill seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Joseph A. Power Jr. and Joseph W. Balesteri of Power Rogers & Smith PC in Chicago.
