Shopper alleges Jewel-Osco employee tackled him

Alarm bell

CHICAGO – A Chicago man is suing Jewel-Osco, alleging he was injured when an unnamed employee tackled him after door alarms went off when he tried to leave.

Piotr Borowski filed a lawsuit Dec. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jewel-Osco, care of Albertson’s Inc., and its employee John Doe, alleging battery and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 8, as Borowski exited Jewel-Osco, the store’s door alarms went off, prompting John Doe to tackle and batter the plaintiff. The suit says the battery was without cause or provocation, and the plaintiff holds Jewel-Osco liable for injuries the plaintiff alleges he suffered as a result of Doe’s actions.

Borowski seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Joel Brenord of Chepov & Scott LLC in Chicago.
