Elderly woman accuses nursing home of injuring her, disallowing visits from husband

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman in suing the nursing facility where she lived, The Ponds of Wealshire, claiming she suffered injuries due to staff negligence.

Beverly Dybel filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Ponds of Wealshire LLC, alleging personal injury liability under the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Dybel was a resident of The Ponds of Wealshire on Sept. 24, 2014 when she was scratched by a careless nurse and suffered other injuries due to neglect. Specifically, the suit claims her call button was disconnected in her room and her husband was not allowed to see her.

Dybel seeks damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorney of Edward M. Rubin of Rubin Machado & Rosenblum Ltd. in Chicago.
