CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing her eye doctor claiming he botched a cataract removal operation, costing her the vision in her right eye.

Ann Tsinonis filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Phillip Wu and Suburban Eyes Clinic LLC, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, as Tsinonis underwent cataract removal surgery under Wu’s care on Jan. 24, 2014, Wu lost control of the lens in her right eye. The suit says Wu proceeded with the surgery, rather than calling in a specialist, resulting in Tsinonis losing the ability to see in her right eye. Since then, she has undergone corrective surgeries and suffered the loss of a normal life.

Tsinonis seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus legal expenses. She is represented by the law firm of Munday & Nathan in Chicago.
