CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery and an independent eye surgeon for allegedly implanting the wrong lens during his cataract surgery.

George Tourloukis filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center LLC, Westchester Eye Surgeons S.C. and Dr. Spero Kinnas, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Tourloukis underwent cataract surgery on his right eye under the care of the defendants on Jan. 24, 2014. The suit says Kinnas implanted the wrong lens, failed to provide proper follow-up care and neglected monitoring the patient’s condition. As a result, Tourloukis claims he suffered permanent injury, was prevented from working and lost great sums of money on corrective medical care.

Tourloukis seeks damages in excess of $50,000. He is represented by attorneys James A. Karamanis and Jennifer Timm of Barney & Karamanis LLP in Chicago.
