Suit claims injuries from slippery walkway

Snowy sidewalk

CHICAGO — A Cook County man is suing PJ Beauty Supply and its landlord in a dispute surrounding injuries he allegedly suffered on the store’s icy premises.

Adrian Hatter filed a lawsuit Jan. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Creative L Inc., doing business as Cosmo Mart, also known as PJ Beauty Supply; and Phillips Martin Management Inc., formerly known as S&J Properties Inc.; alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, shortly after noon on Jan. 31, 2014, Hatter was walking on the premises at 6301 S. Ashland in Chicago when he slipped and fell on an ice-covered walkway. Hatter claims an unusual amount of snow and ice had accumulated on the walkway, which the defendants had a duty to make safe for pedestrians. As a result of his injuries, Hatter says he suffered physical and mental pain, lost earnings, and spent great sums on medical care.

Hatter seeks damages in excess of $50,000. He is represented by the Ankin Law Office LLC in Chicago.
