CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing Loyola University Medical Center and two doctors, claiming they mishandled surgery to reverse a colostomy.
Paulette Malden filed a lawsuit Feb. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Loyola University Medical Center, Dr. Thomas J. Esposito, Dr. Lawrence E. Tabone and Loyola University Physician Foundation, alleging medical negligence.
According to the complaint, during Malden’s procedure to reverse a colostomy on Feb. 14, 2012, Esposito and Tabone allegedly created permanent damage to the bladder and surrounding organs. The suit says that as a result of her injuries, Malden expended large sums for reparative care and suffered great pain and anguish from the complications.
Malden seeks damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Joseph J. Miroballi, Albert E. Durkin and Lauren Levin of Miroballi, Durkin & Rudin LLC in Chicago.
