Nursing home sued over claim of pressure sores

Nursing home room

CHICAGO — A plaintiff who is attorney-in-fact for a man who was a nursing-home patient is suing the nursing home over alleged negligence.

Jean George sued Glenview Terrace Nursing Center, Glen Health and Home Management Inc. and VNA Health Care on Feb. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court.

The plaintiff claims the defendants knowingly violated the Nursing Home Care Act of the State of Illinois by failing to provide adequate medical and personal care for William George.

The plaintiff alleges that, between September 17, 2013, and March 21, 2014, William George suffered from the development and deterioration of multiple pressure sores, including a sacral/buttocks pressure sore; and the suit claims that the defendants are responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate care and treatment to prevent the development of the patient's pressure sores.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000.00 plus attorney's fees and costs. She is represented by Jordan S. Powell of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
