CHICAGO – An insurance company on behalf of a client is suing several businesses alleging that they manufactured defective air conditioning units.

Hanover Insurance Co., as subrogee of Mercola.com Health Resources LLC, doing business as Dr. Mercola Premium Products, filed a complaint on March 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Ingram's Water & Air Equipment LLC, YMGI Group LLC, YMGI Group HVAC and Refrigeration Supply LLC, YMGI Group New Energy Supply LLC and Galanz (North America) Inc., citing strict product liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, an allegedly faulty air conditioner caused a fire at Mercola's Schaumburg office on March 15, 2014, causing $455,048.73 worth of damage. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and distributed faulty air conditioner units.

The plaintiffs seek the following: judgment in an amount in excess of the court's limits, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court deems appropriate. They are represented by Joshua J. Whiteside of Grotefeld Hoffman LLP.
