CHICAGO — A Riverdale woman has sued a doctor and hospital, claiming negligence during childbirth.
Jasmine Reed is suing Jamiere Smith, M.D.; St. Bernard Health Network Inc.; Jamiere Y Smith, M.D., S.C.; and St. Bernard Hospital Inc., a health service provider, citing alleged negligence that resulted in an injury.
Reed sued on March 10 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to provide appropriate medical care and treatment.
The plaintiff alleges that, during childbirth on May 4, 2014, the defendants were responsible for failing to perform a timely C-section, failing to evaluate the nature and extent of the baby's distress, and failing to promptly and properly intervene to stop, address and prevent the baby's distress.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000 plus the costs of suit. She is represented by Rebecca E. Neubauer of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.
