CHICAGO — The independent administrator of a deceased man's estate is suing a nursing home, alleging neglect in the resident's care.

Sandra K. Linden, independent administrator of the estate of Glenn E. Smith, is suing Countryside Care Centre Inc., Countryside Care Inc., Symphony Countryside LLC, Symphony of Orchard Valley, Symphony Post Acute Network and Countryside Care Centre L.P., citing alleged negligence.

Linden sued on March 11 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide proper assistance and supervision in Smith's care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges that, during Smith's residency between March 13, 2014, and July 17, 2014, he fell, was found at times to be dehydrated and suffering from edema and blisters, and developed pressure ulcers and had a calleous formation on his left foot. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegations of not providing proper care, not properly hydrating, and not properly guarding Smith to prevent falls.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Paul G. O'Toole of Salvato & O'Toole in Chicago.
