Woman allegedly sustains injuries after slipping on ice outside Cook County store

CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing a business and its business owners after she slipped on ice outside of their store and allegedly suffered injury.

Geraldine Clark filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Supervalu, Jewel Food Stores Inc., Jewel-Osco, Cherry Logistics Corporation, Michael S. Healy, MCD Construction and Maintenance and Michael Clancy, alleging that they caused and permitted their premises to become and maintained in dangerous condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she slipped and fell to the floor on a sheet of ice outside of the defendants' building at 9400 S. Ashland Ave., causing internal and external injuries The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly improperly maintained their property, failed to repair and barricade the unsafe condition and failed to warn the public of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for all damages, costs of the suit, and any additional amount the court shall deem proper. She is represented by Rahsaan A. Gordon of the Law Offices of Rahsaan A. Gordon P.C. in Chicago.
