CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing a Des Plaines rehabilitation center, alleging negligence caused a relative's death.

Edward Pala Jr., estate administrator for Rsoe Pala,  filed a lawsuit March 31, in Cook Circuit Court against Alden Des Plaines Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc., alleging it violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide adequate and proper nursing and personal care.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 12, 2010, Rosa Pala was rushed and admitted to Lutheran General Hospital suffering from respiratory distress. She was diagnosed with sepsis syndrome, acute respiratory failure, acute renal insufficiency and pneumonia, the suit says. She then died as a result of septic shock, secondary to pneumonia, the lawsuit states.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to assist and supervise properly the treatment of Pala and failed to follow her doctor's order for proper respiratory procedures.

Edward Pala Jr. seeks trial by jury, an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group LLC in Chicago.
