Patient blames Matteson long-term care facility for injuries

CHICAGO — A patient is  suing a Matteson long-term care facility, alleging negligence caused him to be injured.

Joshua Ward filed a complaint April 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Applewood Rehabilitation Center and Generation At Applewood, alleging they knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care act by failing to provide adequate assistance and supervision to prevent falls and injuries.


According to the complaint, on April 18, 2014, Ward suffered right intertrochanteric proximal femur fracture resulted from falling while being transferred or ambulating at Applewood. The plaintiff alleges Applewood failed to protect him from falling by implementing an appropriate fall intervention and failed in providing the required assistance and supervision.

Ward seeks a trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Christopher C. Cortese of Morici, Figlioli & Associates in Chicago.
