Customer blames garage door service for injuries

Hospital

CHICAGO — A Chicago man is suing a Northbrook garage door service, alleging its negligence caused a garage door to strike him.

Joseph Moffett of Chicago filed a lawsuit April 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Ralph Bradley Corporation and Phillip M. Kubik, alleging negligence in failing to exercise due care in rendering services.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 6, 2015, Moffett suffered severe personal injuries caused by the garage door violently striking him at 1128 W. Thorndale Ave., Chicago. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly repair the garage door when its cables became entangled.

Moffett seeks a trial by jury, more than $50,000, plus the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Ryan T. McNulty of Schiff Gorman LLC in Chicago.
