Daughter blames Hanover Park nursing facility for her mother's death

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO — A daughter is suing a Hanover Park nursing facility and its staff, alleging their negligence caused her mother's death.

Patricia Nielson, as administrator for the estate of Mary West, filed a complaint April 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Claremont-Hanover Park, Nucare Services Corp., registered nurses Fawn L Beck, Claudine Magallanes, Patricia Gonzalez and Jennifer Wilkerson, and Alexian Brothers Medical Center, alleging failure to exercise proper medical care and treatment.

According to the complaint, between April 17, 2014 and November 29, 2015, West suffered a right ankle wound infection, acute congestive heart failure and stage IV severe loss of kidney function, all leading to her death Nov. 29, 2015.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to comprehensively assess her mother's condition and failed to properly assist, supervise and administer her medical care and treatment.

Nielson seeks a trial by jury, damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus attorney fees and the costs of suit. She is represented by attorneys Paul D. Richter and Caitlin K. Finnegan of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
