CHICAGO — A mother is suing Northwestern Memorial Hospital and other health professionals, alleging negligence in the treatment of her son.

Moran Levi, as a mother of Yehonatan C. Levi, a minor, filed a lawsuit April 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, Dr. Lisa Mazzulo, Dr. Dianne Wheeler, and Dr. Sarah Osmundson, alleging breach of duty and medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Yehonatan Levi suffered injuries including but not limited to intracranial bleeds, subdural hemorrhage, intraparenchymal hemorrhage, hypoxia, ischemia, causing him to have severe, multiple skull fracture, permanent brain damage and hemiparesis following his birth April 24, 2008, at Northwestern Memorial.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide appropriate emergency care and treatment, failed to appropriately and timely respond to non-reassuring fetal heart tracings, failed to perform timely interventions, failed to offer a C-section as an appropriate treatment, inappropriately attempted a vaginal delivery with forceps and failed to appropriately supervise resident physicians.

Levi seeks a trial by jury and judgment against each defendant of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Steven M. Levin and Jaime A. Koziol of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
