CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Chicago long-term health care facility, alleging its negligence caused him health troubles.

Bruce Williamson filed a lawsuit April 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Belhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC in Chicago and Glenshire Nursing And Rehabilitation Centre Ltd. in Richton Park, alleging negligence in violating the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide adequate care and treatment services.

According to the complaint, on May 1, 2014, Williamson was admitted to Belhaven Nursing and during his residency started to develop and suffer from pressure ulcers, skin breakdown and infection that required hospitalization. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to adequately assist and supervise him to prevent him from becoming dehydrated and from developing and worsening of pressure ulcers, skin breakdown and infection.

Williamson seeks a trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Matthew K. Henry of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates PC in Chicago.
