CHICAGO — A daughter is suing a Chicago nursing home and staff, alleging negligence led to her mother's death.

Judith Nunn, as an independent administrator of the estate of Linda Nunn, filed a lawsuit May 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against California Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Nucare Financial Services and registered nurse Alisha Boler, alleging they failed to provide her mother services in compliance with all applicable standards.

According to the complaint, between Jan. 29-June 18, 2014, Linda Nunn was a resident of California Gardens and was at high risk for the development and deterioration of pressure sores. During her stay at the facility, the suit says, she suffered physical deterioration, a mental and psychological condition, loss of dignity and self respect and the development and worsening of multiple pressure sores, all of which she suffered until her death July 16, 2014.

Judith Nunn alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate medical and personal care, failed to provide necessary treatment and services, failed to appropriately asses her mother's condition, failed to timely notify Linda Nunn's physician and family regarding changes in her condition and failed to promote care that enhances dignity and respect.

Linda Nunn seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorneys Susan Novosad and Michael L. Shanahan of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
