Chicago parent accuses health care service provider of abusing daughter

CHICAGO — A Chicago mother is suing a number of health providers, alleging their negligence caused her daughter to be battered and abused.

Veniscia Humphrey as a parent and next friend of Teniscia Humphrey-Lee filed a lawsuit March 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pediatric Services of America, Inc., PSA Healthcare and registered nurse Theresa D. Lilly-Dale, alleging abuse, battery and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 9, 2013, Teniscia Humphrey-Lee suffered injuries as a result of being battered and abused. The plaintiff alleges the defendants abused her daughter, who was a minor and a mentally disabled child. The suit says Lilly-Dale had a record of felony fraud and felony theft.

Veniscia Humphrey seeks a trial by jury and judgment of at least $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Mark R. McKenna of Hurley McKenna & Mertz in Chicago.
