CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Hoffman Estates hospital and doctor, alleging negligence caused him to suffer an arm ailment.

John Seck filed a lawsuit May 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and Dr. Erik Iversen, alleging negligence in failing to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, between Dec. 27, 2008, and Jan. 8, 2009, Seck developed compartment syndrome in his right forearm at St. Alexius but the defendants failed to diagnose and treat the problem, making the plaintiff's medical condition worse.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly diagnose his condition or provide proper care.

Seck seeks judgment of more than $50,000, plus any further relief the court deems fit. He is represented by attorney Bruce D. Goodman of Steinberg Goodman & Kalish in Chicago.
