Customer accuses Home Depot of negligence

Slip02

CHICAGO — A customer is suing Home Depot, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to the plaintiff as the defendant's store in Carol Stream.

Jaime Kalinowski filed a lawsuit May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Home Depot U.S.A. Inc. and First Acorn LLC, alleging negligence in failing to keep the store's premises free from any hazards that could cause an accident.

According to the complaint, on June 5, 2014, Kalinowski tripped and fell because of a crack in the concrete at the Home Depot store at 475 S. Schmale Road, Carol Stream. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to post warning signs for pedestrians using the walkway as well as failing to maintain the facility.

The plaintiff alleges she suffered injuries to her right arm and shoulder, became sick and sore and must pay medical expenses.

Kalinowski seeks judgment against the defendant, plus interest and court costs and any further relief the court deems just. She is represented by Cuda Law Offices LTD in Oak Park.
