CHICAGO — An Illinois woman is suing an Oak Lawn hospital, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff falling and injuring herself.

Sheila Stamps filed a lawsuit June 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation, doing business as Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Health Care, Advocate Health Care Network and HSRE Oak Lawn MOB LLC, alleging negligence in failing to properly maintain a facility free from hazards that could cause an accident.

According to the complaint, on June 10, 2014, while walking to a restroom at Advocate Medical Group in Oak Lawn, Stamps was injured when she slipped and fell in a hallway due to a dangerous condition. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to keep the floor of their hallways safe, which were wet in many areas.

The suit says the plaintiff suffered severe and permanent injuries, pain and anguish and will be hindered from attending to her usual duties.

Stamps seeks judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Emilio E. Machado of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum LTD in Chicago.
