CHICAGO — A Cook County man is suing Chicago and a popular restaurant, alleging their negligence cause him to fall on a sidewalk.

Allen Dunitz filed a lawsuit June 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, Gibsons Restaurant Group Management Company LLC and Friend Enterprises LLC, alleging negligence in failing to keep their property free of any hazards to pedestrians and the public.

According to the complaint, on June 6, 2015, Dunitz sustained physical injuries when he tripped and fell because of a protruding object on the sidewalk outside Gibsons, 1028 N. Rush St., Chicago.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly maintain the area free of any protruding objects and that Gibsons improperly placed its fixtures in a public walkway.

Dunitz seeks judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs. He is represented by attorney Andrew P. Allen of Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy LTD in Chicago.
