Couple sues medical providers over cancer treatments

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO – A couple is suing two doctors and medical care facilities alleging that they failed to properly diagnose a woman's condition and provide adequate medical treatment.

Beth M. Janiak and Mark Janiak filed a complaint on June 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Steven T. Rosen, Dr. Sarika Jain, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between January 2013 and this year, Beth M. Janiak was diagnosed with breast cancer and that the cancer to spread throughout her body and into her brain and lungs. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly treat plaintiff's symptoms after providing initial treatment for her breast cancer, which resulted in making her condition worse and requiring her to have multiple surgeries.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000. They are represented by John F. Winters Jr. of Winters Salzetta O'Brien & Richardson LLC in Chicago.
