Patient blames pain from ulcer on Homewood nursing care facility

CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Homewood nursing care facility, alleging negligence in treating her ulcer. 

Doris Smith filed a complaint June 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manor Care of Homewood LLC alleging negligence in failing to provide proper care.

According to the complaint, Smith experienced pain as a result of developing a sacral decubitus ulcer while a patient at Manor Care from June 22-July 23, 2015. The plaintiff alleges the defendant neglected its duty to provide proper care and services of the highest professional standards to Smith, including treatment of her ulcer.

Smith seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by The Deratany Firm of Chicago.
