Family alleges nursing care facility's negligence caused death

CHICAGO — A family member is suing health care providers, alleging their negligence caused the death of a 77-year-old man. 

Joan McNeal, independent administrator of the estate of Tony McNeal, filed a lawsuit June 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manor Care of Oak Lawn (East) Il LLC doing business as Manorcare Health Services-Oak Lawn East, ISD Renal, Inc. doing business as DaVita Chicago Heights Dialysis, Total Renal Care Inc., doing business as a DaVita Chicago Heights Dialysis, Manor Care of South Holland LLC, doing business as Manorcare Health Services-South Holland, alleging negligence in failing to provide proper medical care and attention to Tony McNeal.

According to the complaint, in 2014, Tony McNeal, 77,  experienced severe pain as a result of falling several times and sometimes even hitting his head and several other health conditions, which contributed to or caused his death Aug. 16, 2014. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate supervision to McNeal or provide timely medical attention, which further worsened his pressure ulcers.

Joan McNeal seeks judgment in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional requisite of the court. She is represented by attorney Eva E. Golabek of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
