Woman says nursing-home care fell short

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Briar Place Ltd., doing business as Briar Place, and Pershing Gardens Healthcare Center LLC., doing business as Pershing Gardens HC Center, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Marie Hoffman filed a complaint on June 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she experienced pain from having a left lateral epicondyle fracture and other injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to the plaintiff and to ensure that all her personal and medical needs were well taken care of.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Matthew Baker of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman in Chicago.
