Mother says child's arm fracture not treated correctly

CHICAGO — A mother is suing Daniel E. Sullivan, D.O.; Northwest Orthopaedic Associates, Ltd. d/b/a Northwest Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Jolanta Dziok, M.D., Chicago Pediatric & Neonatology S.C., Lori Masterson, M.D., Presence Chicago Hospitals Network d/b/a Presence Resurrection Medical Center, Lois L. Moss, as executor of the estate of Gregory Moss, M.D.; and Diagnostic Imaging Associates, Ltd., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Sylwia Mackowska, a mother and next friend of Vanessa Halas, filed a complaint on June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care and treatment to Halas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 28, 2008, there was a failure to accurately assess and treat Halas for a fractured arm. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly interpret Halas' X-rays, fully evaluate her conditions and provide the appropriate treatment.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Susan E. Loggans of Susan E. Loggans & Associates, P.C. in Chicago.
