Suit blames city, hospital in murder allegation

CHICAGO — An administrator of his deceased mother's estate is suing the City of Chicago, Cook County, d/b/a John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, alleging wrongful death.

Steven Taylor, independent administrator on behalf of the estate of Vanessa Taylor, filed a complaint on June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide adequate protection to Vanessa Taylor.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 28, 2015, Vanessa Taylor was murdered by James Thomas. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because theyallegedly failed to take certain steps in order to ensure that Vanessa Taylor was safe before discharging James Thomas.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Richard Dvorak of Dvorak Law Offices, LLC in Willowbrook.
