Nursing home care criticized in wrongful death suit

Law money 12

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death suit against Belhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC and Infinity Healthcare Management of Illinois LLC, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Sandra Garner, independent administrator to collect of the estate of Rosie McGhee, filed a complaint on July 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to McGhee.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between October 2010 and July 2015, McGhee had a fall injury and developed pressure sores, which the suit claims contributed to and/or caused her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision at all times to McGhee and for failing to provide proper medical attention and a complete medical evaluation after she fell.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Susan L. Novosad and W. Kent Winingham of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
