Woman claims failure to diagnose stroke

Medical malpractice 02

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Presence Health; Presence Covenant Medical Center; Grant Stover, M.D.; Carle Foundation Hospital; Heather Good; and Thomas Scaggs, M.D., alleging negligence in medical care.

Joyce Clark Hogsette filed a complaint on Aug. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to properly evaluate the plaintiff's condition and provide the medical treatment needed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2014, she sustained severe physical injuries from having a stroke. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly evaluate the severity of the plaintiff's symptoms while failing to diagnose her with a stroke.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Mark R. McKenna of Hurley McKenna & Mertz in Chicago.
