Man says hole in roof caused hazardous surface

CHICAGO — A man is suing Mac's Convenience Stores, LLC, d/b/a Circle K and/or Circle K Midwest; Couch-Tard, d/b/a Circle K and/or Circle K Midwest; and Shell Oil Company, alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Patrick J. Doyle filed a complaint on Aug. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to keep an area dry.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 18, 2015, he suffered a fall causing him physical injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendatns responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to fix a hole on the roof of their premises to prevent water from leaking down to the pavement below.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Jason S. Marks of Marks & Associates, Ltd. in Gurnee.
