Couple claim infection wasn't treated properly

CHICAGO — A couple's lawsuit against Jitendra Dassani, M.D.; Kenji Muro, M.D.; Darian Esfahani, M.D.; Advocate Health and Hospital Corporation, d/b/a Advocate Medical Group; Mohammad Siddiqui, M.D.; Mohammad Siddqui M.D., Ltd.; Shana Nelson, D.O.; Erin Nasrallah, M.D.; Shalini Patel, M.D.; Northshore Nephrology Ltd.; Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation, d/b/a Advocate Lutheran General Hospital; Alden Northshore Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Inc.; and Advocate North Side Health Network u/a/n Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center alleges negligence in medical care.

Lawrence Novello and Georgeann Novello filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Lawrence Novello.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in August 2014, Lawrence Novello suffered injuries including the development of a bladder dysfunction. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to identify Lawrence Novello's infection and administer antibiotics before discharging him.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court. They are represented by Elizabeth A. Kaveny of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny in Chicago.
