Five doctors sued for allegedly failing to diagnose sepsis caused by a twist in a patient's small intestine

CHICAGO — A woman is suing five health-care providers alleging negligence in medical care.

Lakeisha Garrett is suing doctors, identified as Matthew Johnson, M.D., Vinny Sharma, M.D., Roberto Machado, M.D., Kimberly Remsky, M.D., and Christine Neeb, M.D. The plaintiff filed a complaint on Sept. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide her with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, her physical condition declined due to abdominal sepsis caused by a twisting of her small intestine. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly diagnose her condition and provide the treatment needed in a timely manner.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Scott B. Wolfman of Law Offices of Scott B. Wolfman in Chicago.
