Law money 12

CHICAGO — A guardian of a disabled woman's estate has filed a suit alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Joseph M. Cernugel, as guardian of the estate of Delores Crawford, a person with a disability, filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against St. James Wellness Rehab and Villas LLC; Franciscan Communities Inc., which does business as St. James Manor & Villa; and other associated entities, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Crawford while she was staying at their facility.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Crawford suffered a fall that contributed to the deterioration of her health. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to implement a care plan to address Crawford's risk of falling.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Julie L. Pustilnik of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd. in Chicago.
