Waterfront Terrace accused of negligence in connection with choking death

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family has filed a wrongful death claim, alleging negligence in the woman's choking death at a nursing home.

Kenneth Boyd, as independent administrator of the estate of Nettie Boyd, filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Waterfront Terrace Inc. and Dynamic Healthcare Consultants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Nettie Boyd.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Nettie Boyd choked to death while eating. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Nettie Boyd in order to keep her from choking.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte IV and Michael Shanahan of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
