CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family is suing The Villa at South Holland LLC and Villa Healthcare Management Inc. in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.
Farron Booker, special administrator of the estate of Fannie Booker, filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Fannie Booker.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, Fannie Booker
was admitted to the Villa center after neck surgery and died nine days later from an acute pulmonary thromboembolism. The plaintiff alleged the nursing home and its staff failed to provide adequate supervision to Fannie Booker and failed to evaluate and recognize the signs of an acute pulmonary thromboembolism.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Steven B. Muslin of Muslin & Sandberg in Chicago.
