Law money 03

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death claim against Glenwood Healthcare & Rehab, Glenwood Healthcare & Rehab Inc., Second Step and Hometown Plus, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Victoria Eason, as special administrator of the estate of Jewel Boyd, filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Boyd.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Boyd developed a stage IV decubitus pressure ulcer that contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Boyd in order to avoid the development of pressure ulcer.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Molly L. Condon of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
