Advocate Lutheran General Hospital accused of false imprisonment over forced blood draw

CHICAGO — A man is suing Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, citing alleged assault and battery, false imprisonment and HIPAA violation.

Kevin Ryan filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, alleging that the hospital used force to draw blood from him without his consent in October 2014.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael Malatesta of Malatesta Law Offices, LLC in Chicago.
