CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against Advocate Health, Advocate Heart Institute, Advocate Medical Group and Midwest Heart Specialists, alleging negligence in medical care.
Sumedija Smajlovic, as special administrator of the estate of Enver Smajlovic, filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Enver Smajlovic.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Smajlovic was prescribed a drug after surgery that led to a condition which contributed to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to make a proper evaluation of Smajlovic's condition and provide the necessary treatment and adequate supervision.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Mark R. McKenna of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
