CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against South Loop Living & Rehab Center LLC and Warren Barr South Loop, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Joanne Morris, as independent administrator of the estate of Cleothus Morris, filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging Morris suffered from the development of pressure ulcers that contributed to the septic shock that led to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Morris to avoid the development of the ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
