Law money 05

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family has filed a wrongful death claim against B&D Hotel Corporation; Central Plaza Residential Home; Barton Healthcare L.L.C.; and Barton Management Inc., alleging negligence in a residential-care setting for a mentally ill woman.

Timothy Jones, independent administrator of the estate of Linda Jones, filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Linda Jones.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Jones died as a result of choking on food, and claims that improper supervision led to the choking incident and that improper care after the choking began contributed to the death.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
