Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, others accused of injuries from a hernia surgery

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — Two people are suing Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and other health care providers, alleging medical negligence.

Justin Kerr and Chee-Kium Chong filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate North Side Health Network, which does business as Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center; Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Group; Marek Rudnicki, M.D.; and Advanced Laparoscopic General Surgery, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Kerr.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Kerr suffered physical injuries resulting from negligence during a hernia repair surgery. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because of allegations that an intestinal injury during the 2014 surgery caused conditions for which Kerr still requires treatment.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. They are represented by Ruth M. Degnan of McNabola Law Group, P.C. in Chicago.
