Warren Barr South Loop accused of negligence in nursing home care

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased man's estate has filed a wrongful death claim against South Loop Living & Rehab Center LLC, Warren Barr South Loop, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Wanda Webb, as special administrator of the estate of Victor Smith, filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Smith.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Smith suffered from the development of decubitus ulcers the contributed to and/or caused his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Smith in order to avoid the development of decubitus ulcers as well as allegedly failing to properly address the ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
